Yeah I owned a Sauer 202 once just don't love the feel of them.

There is a Winnie featherweight for sale and I wonder if I just get that and change the stock. Spoke to the local gun shop and he reckons itd cost $1500 for a decent wood grade stock though

It's a romance thing, I grew up reading Jim corbett and Walter bell and Ive always wanted a 275 Rigby with open sights so it's that or nothing.

I see myself owning 4 rifles in my life, a 22, a light synthetic big game rifle, a muzzleloader and a 275 Rigby. Got all of that sorted bar the last.

Unless I win the lottery then I might buy a double rifle that I'd never use!

There is only one option then:

    CZ-USA Safari Classics Express Rifle - CZ-USA

Im pretty sure they do them in 7x57 to order

I spoke to the gun shop again today and they confirmed that they can't get a 7x57 from cz here as it's discontinued. But maybe a custom direction is the way to go.

Either that or I just say fuck it and save for a heym sr21 or something. I'm getting burnt out looking at guns!

I imported a Heym SR-20 in 6.5x55 about 30 years ago and only kept it a short while, fairly underwhelming, nice but not special if you know what I mean. I'd hold out for a Sabatti (which is a copy of the excellence Husky action) or better, keep looking on UsedGuns Australia and get yourself either a Brno Model 21 or 22, or as someone else has suggested a Brno ZG-47. The ZG-47 and Model 21 era of Brno mausers are very arguably the finest "true" commercial Mausers made.

Auctions? Some of these may need a little work but send the guys at Holts an email they will be able to tell you how to get it into OZ.
If you go to past sales and sift through you will be able to figure out how much to bid on the sealed bids.
I know you want a .275 Rigby but they can be a pain to travel with if you can't find cartridges head stamped the same as the rifle....airline and airport staff being so knowledgeable and all
Anyway I hope this might help if not enjoy the pics I think it's just going to make your itch worse though

Give em a call there good to deal with! Brought my BSA through them.

    Edit

The only reason I didn't by a 257 was the travel issue.

I know its different countries at all but would he be able to do a deal with Graeme Champion? He may be able to source a nice example? Depends on freight and the dreaded import costs and paperwork of course

I had a really nice ZG-47 years ago. Beautiful action and I am still kicking myself for selling it.

I did see that and I do think it looks great but I think I'm still scarred by my brothers steyr mannlicher model L 243. Granted it's a bit different but that was the sharpest kicking rifle I've ever fired, I've genuinely shot 338s that were more comfortable.
