Forgot to add the Swarovski to the list. They look very comparable to the leupold.
Hoping to make it to the sika show and get something there, not really in a hurry for a scope at the moment

VX5 is a great option. 15x is plenty of magnification. I’ve been able to use mine on game to 800 and targets to 1000. My only gripe with that scope is the reticle options and how thick the windplex reticle is but otherwise it’s so hard to beat. Mine has dialled flawlessly for the 3-4 years i’ve owned it.
The Swaro Z5 with 4w reticle is also a great choice if you can find one.
Vortex Razor LHT 3-15 looks cool but no experience.
I really like the Zeiss V4 4-16 too, good reticle options.
You can pick up good 2nd deals on VX6 3-18s, especially the pre-HD models. These sell at less than the new prices on VX5s. I have both HD and non HD VX6 and can’t tell bugger all diff in optical quality. Certainly nothing to justify the 2x price tag. Also rate the Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 with windplex. DeltaTi 4-24x50 are pretty hard to beat on price and quality is good. Zeiss V4 4-16 also very good glass. There’s some Bushnell LRH scopes on TradeMe at present 3.5-21x50 for $1320, seems like a steal.
Yeah of you want a Vx5 just wait your time there was basically new one sold for 1350 the other day.

+1 for the VX-5HD 3 - 15.
I just have the duplex firedot one. I am not too worried personally about the lack of reticles as it is SFP and the CDS turret is easy to use and well made.
Didn't think I would care about the firedot, I only got it as I bought it off trademe basically new for a good price. Having used the firedot now at dusk and in the thicker stuff I probably wouldn't be without it.
I do have a z6i 1 - 6 on a 300 blackout and that is really nice glass, I am not sure what their warranty is like compared to Leupold though. I like the Swaro illumination switch setup better with the day/night switch vs the Leupold system.
I can only imagine what the Z8 @25 /08 IMP is getting is like, must be really nice going off what my Z6i is like.

A bit more info on my Vinen scope it is the V111 2.5-15x50mm illuminated with BDC10 reticle fully multi-coated weight 570g 30-year warranty great in low lite cost me about $1200.00 and stacks up to scopes twice the price. have a look at Optics trade and read the reviews posted .
my 10 cents is this, just buy the vx5 and buy it soon, i pretty sure the next shipment into the country will be going up in value
You are correct that they now come in Mil, i only fount out after reading your post.
As for the turret. I think the position is like this: Leupold certain did not make them to be unreliable. But, reliable turrets are heavy, hard to make and expensive. Leupold simply does not focus on competing in this space. While you will find people post on forum saying that their VX5 HD dial accurately and reliably, you can also find many that say they do not dial well at all. In contrast, you almost never find such posts about Bushnell LRHS/LRTS, Vortex LHT, Zeiss V6, for example.
