Check out the Burris HD I've just brought a 3-15 for my Howa mini for $800 brand new and they are miles ahead of the vx3.
I would never own a 3-14.5 because of the eye relief

I had a look at them and was really surprised in person how bloody huge the ocular lense end of the scope is. They are very nice scopes for the money but in my mind would require mountain higher than other options to ensure bolt handle clearance

I see it has 80 moa of elevation adjustment too, pretty good for a 1 inch tube, 3-15 is a handy mag range too.

Unfortunately the larger eye piece is what gives many more "modern" scopes the better FOV vs older designs like the VX3.
Also helps with the more forgiving eye box.

Not a problem if you have a less than 90° bolt or have a cheek riser but definitely can be an issue.

Yup, I "upgraded" from a VX1 3-9x40. Regretting that now. The VX1 was a bloody good scope for the price!

Actually the vx31 is easy to use and better than the vx5hd for quick tRget acquisition.
No different in me finding the target on swao z3 z5 and z6
But you need to set them up just right
    My 10 cents worth

I'm currently looking into Tract toric 2-10x42 model with bdc for bush/ allrounder scope. Nice large fov at lowest mag and bdc reticle for quick med range shots. On top of that it comes with a capped moa zero lock turret for lugging through bush and more precise longer shots when dialling is needed and still waterproof without the cap. According to reviews quite good glass and lifetime warranty. Only slight negative is it's bit heavier than some out there but ticks alot of boxes. Wished they were available in stores to check out before forking out cash!!

Not the greatest reviews by buyers on 24 hour campfire but the Americans are pretty hard on anything not made in the USA.

Careful adjustment fore and back, checking several shooting positions and powers.
A small cheek riser glued onto the butt.
