Thread: New sound meter

Hi Guys ,

Just saw a magazine article about testing the AU cans in NZ , using a new sound meter by Larson Davis , looked real good , unit is the LXT1 QRF , made just for measuring gunshots etc , nice , I thought .
Asked some guys in the US about it , they say its not up the the task , and call it a marketing meter , ie not fit for purpose .

To comply with the Mil-spec testing , the meter needs to have a rise time of 20 micro secs or less & a sample rate of 160,000 .
This meters specs are a rise time of 30 micro secs & a sample rate of 51,200 .

Seems a pity , you cant buy a new meter that will do the job properly .
