Roy at Euro Optic is very good to deal with. I bought two Nightforces and an Elcan from him a few years back. Made worthwhile savings and never a problem.

I'd love this scope and I see USD125 shipping to NZ. Would then get GST hit... customs too??

Some offshore sellers are charging GST at point of sale. In which case you’ll only pay duty (if any) and gst on shipping and customs clearance costs. Don’t know if Eurooptic are doing that.

Its some extreme markup. its a shame hopefully the distributor changes. Ive complained before. I told them i could fly overseas and pick one up and have change left over. They said that sounds like a promotion. ( the person i talked to was not helpful)

Actually it would be good if a second distribution Chanel existed. There would be good healthy competition of the market place.

I remember when there were only two Barnard resalers in the U.K. In the late 90's. Prices were pretty steep. As soon as a few more distributors were allowed to sell them, prices became a bit more democratic.

NZ firearm product distribution is run by a handful of monopolies. Some are very respectfully priced, others like nightforce are virtually criminal.

To be fair there is always 3 sides to every story.
Nobody here knows for sure of the buying structure for the wholesaler.
As far as importing goes good luck getting itar restricted items out of the states and not getting locked up.
And as the story I have been told before on here, a mate was bringing a nightforce out from aussie earlier in the year and got it taken of him and destroyed with a $450 aus fine.
I know I would rather pay nz dollars and have the scope on my rifle instead of been bent over in an usa jail or have my pride and joy destroyed by australian authorities.
    Go and knock yourself out.
I was in the states in january this year and didnt eve buy a tikka mag that I saw on sale as I just didnt want to run the risk of been dealt with by the usa authorities.
I used to bring optics back from aussie, but no more for me!

All good points, but not a reason for us to be screwed by some NZ importers.

People like Sarvo on here should be let loose on Nightforce's. Then we would see some pricing action.

Dont be mistaken Tahr, Sarvo even though the good bastard that he is he will not be importing and selling optics with out a margin.
He has never stated publicly what his margins are.
    Neither has the nightforce importer.
Perhaps sarvo has a way better buy price than hardys can negotiate with nf usa.
    Just saying

I’d imagine Sarvos overheads are smaller than Hardy’s so he can make a living plus offer a cheaper NZ retail. I’d say lack of bricks and mortar for Sarvo possibly be a competitive advantage...
