Thread: Nightvision scopes

Seen a few guys on here have Gen3 nightvision. Where are you sourcing it from? tell me your secrets...come on now.... are you sneaking it out of US on visits? given up trying to order it from america or canada. seen alot recently on Trademe with second hand Gen3 stuff in the $6000 to $9000 range?! is that what people are paying for it or...? surely not. would also love to hear from any forum members with the Pulsar digisight nightvision gear and a their opinion

There is no such thing as gen3 for sale in Nz on the civilian market. It is restricted due to the chemical to power the tube.
Its all bullshit to call it gen 3.
It is nowhere near as good as real gen3 gear. I think its called super gen elsewhere.
I think trtium powers real gen 3 and is a nuclear substance. Radio active.
Dont get caught out by crap gear.

so this stuff on trademe e.g. PVS 4 Night Vision scope GEN 3 | Trade Me is not real gen3?

The halo isnt as big as I'd like, so wont be using it on anything big just incase (would prob be fine)
Will live on my 300 BLK upper I think

Most of the stuff if not all on TM isnt Gen 3.
There isnt such thing as Gen 2+ either
If you cant get tube specs then its worth 1/2 of what they are asking.

BTW, forget anything ATN, Digisight, Russian tubes etc
You pay what you get for.
I have a PVS14 Gen 3 Mil also - non autogated.
Its Green daylight at night.. and 'da torch' will shine over 800m - its almost too bright
GIMP had a Autogaged one that tube specs would have been better than mine - he sold it cheap cheap on TM

Yep, all shit and I dont know how they get away with calling it gen 3.
The difference between real gen 3 and that stuff is literally night and day.
Most of the stuff I have had a play with off the civilian market needs tons of ambient light or IR light backup.
Dont get me wrong some of it is good gear but was phased out of military use in the 80's.
Really just trying to point out there is a huge difference in what the military uses and what is available in Nz for general sale.

I used a gen 111 head ocular a while ago -fricken amazing in the blackest of part of the place we were in I could see it very clearly -green but see it all .

ohhh my lordy.....now thats what im talking bout!!!! ive got a 300 blackout upper to test it out on if your pushed for time and stuff...

You can test it, however I'll take a $10k bond.

There is a BIG difference between Gen 2, even a good Gen 2 tube and Gen 3.
You;ll think Gen 2 is awesome till you play with a Gen 3

haha..the old doz of tui and some pauas wont suffice then a? do u need/have the goggles or headset to hunt with it too? is that american stuff?

You don't need a helmet mount but you will be looking through the scope alot.
My gear is US stuff but you'd be mad to try and get it out if the US. Jail time stuff. Mine came out of the UK. So someone got it there and that's their prob
