Mosins are hugely underrated. get one with a good barrel, pre war if you can and with non forced matching numbers.

I looked for the carbine version, The regular 91/30s are too damn long for me.

I've got one and it's pretty good, wouldn't say great but it's accurate enough. Definitely not "target" grade accuracy, but good enough for a clean kill shot.
I took it to Gillie's shoot at Mucko's place last year and got a reasonable score, good enough to be happy with the result.
Mine did need a fair bit of polishing on the bolt to get it to cycle smoothly, but haven't struck any other issues with it. Feeds Tula and Barnaul steel case 123gn perfectly, and consistent accuracy from both of those brands (in hollow point and soft point). Mine's a Bisley, so maybe I struck a good one...

Easiest improvement to the SKS is to add about 40 mm to the length of the stock (unless you are 5 foot nothing) the increased length of pull really improves the hold and sight picture. U can do it the expensive ATI stock way or the couple of pieces of ply method. Then since you have a scope rail get a red dot. Minute of rabbit easyName: Min of rabbit.jpg

The pin doesn't punch out it's flat on one side,it rotates up and then the gas tube lifts off.Hope this helps.
