    Nosler 26, 28, 30, who's got one?

OK fellas, I'm getting a bit steamy about the Noslers.

Who's got one, what is it and how is it going?

    Does it meet your expectations?

    I'm sort of interested in a 28.
Planning to build a rifle from the ground up and will need to start soon.
But I really need a lightweight hunting rifle that females can carry and shoot comfortably. A big bruiser 28 might be too much.

Yeah I've got a custom built 28 Nosler, built to run 195gr Berger EOL.

I had it built on a Stiller Predator action. Bartlein 8 twist barrel finished at 26 inch, T2 brake.

It's poking out the 195s at 3100 pretty easy with RE33.

Including a big 27x scope it weights 4.4kg. Could save weight with a VX5 etc.

It's super easy to shoot with the T2, can watch your impacts etc.

The ballistics (windage are hard to beat) equals 338 Lapua/edge etc with a 300gr to way out there.

I did some wind testing with it at the end of a hunt recently. 653 yards, 17 mph cross wind, dialed in the windage adjustment.

Had my mate videoing and watching for the splash in the binos to see how far off the little white rock I hit, let rip........deleted the rock from the slip. Mate couldn't believe it.

So he jumped on my rifle and picked out another nearby rock, let rip.....same result.

He had never fired it before.

Pm me if you want more info.

they EAT barrel, just be aware.
don't get me wrong, i love the work, but you will need to factor a barrel swap in fairly regularly.
last one i had in had 650 rounds thru it and had extensive firecracking atleast 8 inches up the bore. it had lost accuracy.
so allow about $1.50 to $2 per round into your costs for barrel wear.
    thanks

Yeah stick with the 6.5 bore...you already know it well enough. PRC with the right barrel length will edge out your 260Imp.

From what I have researched it should beat the Ackley for same weight projectiles easily?

I'm not building it for myself. I am happy with my plastic washer rifle.

Yep it would, with off the shelf components too. No fire forming has to be a plus.

Ha the Blouser plastic washer toy

    I have reamers for, 26, 28 & 30 Nosler

    Haven't built a 26 yet & built the aforementioned 30 Nosler.

Built quite a few 28s now, they go pretty well but as previously mentioned the barrels have a limited life especially if abused

They use a fair bit of powder & need to be looked after to achieve an accurate barrel life of more than 500.

The velocities touted overseas seem hard to achieve with reasonable brass life, Nosler 28 Nosler brass isn't cheap
