Shop I was in had very little left and said cant import and not sure what or when it will change
Is it to do with USA CV export limits or their factory shut downs ???

i would assume we see the build of our ammo comes from the states opposed to europe especially the bigger brands, hornady, federial, winchester, cci, remington.

Bet winchester wished they keeped the factory in aussy that was making our 22 ammo

    Greetings All,
The shortage of ammunition and components is due to the cyclic panic buying that happens in the US driven by their electoral cycle. This may have been increased slightly by production short falls due to covid but primarily it is the fear of a Democrat President being elected in the US. There are a number of conspiracy theories about changes to Arms Legislation in NZ circulating currently none of which I will dignify by repeating. I agree with Zimmer that these are total B.S. Most seem to be circulated by minor parties trying to gain some traction in the current election as earlier reported. None of the major parties are likely to open the Arms Legislation can of worms any time soon in spite of what some are trying to suggest.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but with changes to the Dangerous goods act (internationally???) there are now only two shipments per year hitting our shores. So if the wholesalers don't correctly predict demand 6 months ahead, its easy for shortages to occur. And then Covid. And then US elections. And then our elections and Farcebook scaremongering.

Don't know what to really think of it, but last time I picked up some ammo from Gun City, they said pretty much forget about seeing any shipments from CCI landing for a long time.

I'm not sure that helps very much. I haven't been able to find 25-303 for years.

None at the moment, thanks Gramps. My sizing of .303 cases seems to work well enough for me at present and into the foreseeable future. Old age has it's dubious benefits. Hell of a price though,hey..?

    Great discussion.

I'm please I reload for most of my rifles.
I try to ensure I have enough reloading components for at one year ahead.

Kilwell traveller told me last month that rimfire will be scarce, but hopeful that centrefire should be fine.
Just as well everyone hates 270 and has sold them, plus the fact every place that sells ammo carry’s it. Win win for me
