Something I can put down to sit on and not get a wet arse. Probably a bit of foam bedroll kept under the flap of my daypack would do the trick

I use a 1ft sq of polythene. Stick it in my pocket or zip pocket on my pack waste belt depending on the pack.

These are generally referred to as shopping bags.

    Free at New World

Can also be used to carry water, pack meat and start fires.

A lens cloth that I can keep dry. For some reason if it is wet enough that I need to wipe the lens everything I touch is sodden.

I use a square of ripstop nylon. I originally had it left over from making waterproof over mittens for leather motorcycle gloves after I lost the 0riginal ones. Works a treat, water proof, wind proof and if the weather truns to crap it can be used as a bandanna to retain heat from the head.... About a metre square and weighs about the same as two hankies....Got it from here a few years back at $5 per metre....HARALDS Warehouse | HARALDS Warehouse | Christchurch, Canterbury An old school type shop. No elaborate website, but nice helpful people.

It will still be sodden after my hands grab the cloth out.

The bedroll peice is perfect arse care for glassing, keeps butt dry, keeps butt warm if sitting on icy rocks or snow and keeps butt comfortable if sitting on sharp rocks etc.
