Outdoor Arms jw-15 full barrel silencer: Are they worth it?

Has anyone had any experience with the full barrel silencer model of jw-15 that Gun City sell?

    They look impressive!

Besides just getting a CZ or a Tikka, would I be better off with a regular jw-15 and use the savings to buy a well known brand suppressor?

Personally I'd stay well away from Outdoor Arms branded stuff. Older (now second hand) JW15 are pretty good, and then yeah add a surpressor.

My next .22 will be either a CZ or a Tikka...

I wouldnt touch anything branded Outdoor Arms either. The rifles are poorly built and are barely fit for purpose.

Even if it were cheap as - I would walk away

I used to manufacture full over-barrel supressed rifles based on the JW15 platform many years ago and the customers loved them to the extent that they christened them 'click-pops' based on the fall of the firing pin and the impact on the rabbit. The barrels were shortened, turned to shape, threaded and ported with a full-length suppressor, modified stock, trigger job and all working parts smoothed and tuned. I made about 30 all told, plus a lot of other fully suppressed rifles based on other actions including semi-autos in rimfire and centrefire. The 'click-pops' were as close to totally silent as you can get, and very accurate. There must be a few still in use out there as the JW15 actions are ruggedly made and just need a bit of TLC.

As far as the usual JW15 with a muzzle thread, a decent suppressor is all you need for .22LR. It won't quite be click/pop but close enough.

I bought a new JW15 in about 1986 , fitted a slip-on Silent Kill suppressor , solely shoot standard velocity ammo and it is entirely "Click - Pop".

    Every time .

But then it isnt an Outdoor Arms plastic gun so that may be the telling point...

I've got one of those on my 10/22. Never tried it with standard velocity though.

If you run something like CCI Quiets you can achieve click level quietness with any 22 and a standard can. Full barrel suppressors on 22s are just a marketing thing.
