Does the Leupold 3-18x44 have the same dogshit optics as the Swaro 3-18x44? tiny eyebox, fov, etc

If its anything like the eyebox on the 2-12 it is awesome. The 2-12 I have used had a massive FOV (not just due to the 2x low end mag) and had a very forgiving eye box.
I have a MK4 4.5-14x40 which has a terrible tunnel vision effect, but the VX6 2-12 didn't feel like that at all.

Both have 18 x and a 44mm objective so both have an exit pupil of 2.44mm (on full power) with all the limitations that brings. The 30mm tube may have given leupold some room to do something clever but its only fiddling around the edges, they are governed by the same laws of puysics all manufactures are and they are not really known for innovation these days. I didnt/havnt had a problem with either in regard to eye position. Perhaps in competition where time was crucial? but then you would most likely be using a lower magnification so lessening any possible issues.
Just a slopy retrobate
Shit I never see images through my scope like you guys :-(

Eye box on my VX6 is awesome. Great scopes.
@Matt2308 What reticle and turret combination do you have on your VX6? Hows the turret tracking?
I have a couple of VX6's - 2-12x42 and 3-18x44, both fantastic scopes. Optically only just a tad behind Swaro 3.5-18x44 to my eyes. VX6 wins out on other features like dial up range.
I also have duplex firedot and find it suits my eyes very well. No complaints on reticle thickness, and I do use the firedot quite routinely. Firedot is the bees knees in very low light especially in the bush. Also use it for long range shots as I find the dot really helps me focus on in on the precise POA.
In terms of turret tracking I've calibrated the moa dial up and both track to 1.035 per moa not 1.05, but the dial up & tracking is very repeatable.
Best hunting reticle for a first focal plane scope that I have seen is the Pecar number 16. As the power is turned up, effectively, the reticle image size changes little because the tapered cross hairs continue to taper to the central point rather than growing rather large. This reticle must be an unusual one because I have seen only one example on a 1.5 - 6 x 42.
favourite reticle / scope for range n hunting work is my mildot 3.5-10 mk4 Leupolds - big heavy side bars with very fine centre crosshairs . . to me
Mine (3-18x44) has Boone and Crocket (illuminated), I like it, simple, and if I do ever have to fire a rushed shot without time to dial etc I know what distance the hash marks work out as with my load, I would either go Boone and Crocket or simple Duplex if I bought another one, the dials do the fancy work so theres no point having graffiti inside a scope for me.
Vortex HST 4-16 Mrad... I love the MRAD reticle and would happily buy a PST 2.5-10 with that reticle when funds allow for my 308 as a GP bush orientated scope.
I find my HST rarely goes off 4 power but as I get into the tops which we have so many of down here in Te Anau it sits on 8 and only rarely does it go to 16 but I love the magnification range for a longer range rifle.
