I'm considering getting a 3x prism sight for farm pest control rifle, maybe something like a 3x vortex spitfire etc. I have zero experience with these sights, can anyone give me suggestions what to look for, better or worse brands etc? Is it true they tend to have excellent brightness qualities like you would expect to find on more expensive conventional scopes? The appeal of prism style is because I'm looking for low magnification, fast sight acquisition, small, lightweight and sturdy optics. Etched reticle for when the battery goes flat is essential too. How sturdy are they, and how much knocking can they take before they go off true (I'm not in ACOG price range!). Are there problems with eye relief? Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.
I'm guessing fixed 3x would be the perfect compromise for fast close range shots and more careful mid-range shots? No long range shots with this calibre.
If anyone has got anything left over from their AR days they are not using and want to sell it'd be interested too.
