    Rails

Hi guys. I have a new 6.5 PRC build (parts from Cam at Alpine Precision and a great experience Dealing with him. Thanks Cam!) Im putting a VX5 on the Defiance action with Talley rings. The scope fits but there is no room to adjust for eye relief due to the design of the scope and the rings. It might be ok as is but if not one option im considering is a rail. I would Want the lightest strongest rail I could get. Where should I be looking? Any advice? Thanks in advance. The action is Defiance Rebel with a round top. Rear bridge same height as front.

Will, I have the same action and I simply turned the front Talley mount around 180deg to close the gap up, I run the VX5 as well. Or are you finding you can't get the scope forward enough and the power ring is fouling on the back ring?

Correct @Mathias that is exactly what I’m running into. Another option would be to machine the flat part of the ring base down about 1.5mm - which would allow the power ring to slide forward over it and give another 10mm or so of forward adjustment. But a rail would give limitless adjustment albeit at a cost of weight.

Thats an idea Will. I had my rings Cerakoted to match rifle, could be an option after the machining is done if you go that way. I guess I was lucky, as my set up works as pictured with eye relief spot on.

Cheers all good thoughts. I’ve ended up going to a Z5 instead. It’s got more length on the tube.
