    Reasonable first baffle wear?

I tried to send this pm to @DPT but it is not allowing me to send picture. And we all know without pictures....

What would be considered a normal amount of wear on first baffle of over barrel dpt can from a 17in .243 barrel shooting 80 & 100gr factory ammo (Winchester super x)?

I will definitely be purchasing a s/s baffle as soon as funds allow so that is something I am already aware of.

Just wondering if this seems excessive for 20-25 rounds, mixed 100/80gr?

P.s suppressor is awesome and very happy with its performance so this is not a gripe, just after info as do not have a lot of experience with them.

The 'problem' with modular suppressors is that you can open them up and have a look. If it was a one piece unit, you wouldn't know and you wouldn't worry about it ...

looks to me like you have cleaned it...there is no white powdery stuff around it....like mine has, told to leave it there as it helps to slow down wear.

You got me curious so I opened up mine
    16 Inch Barrel .375WSM @ approx 200 shots (250gn bullet at approx 2500FPS)

but the one I am most interesed in is my 6.5TCU Suppressor as its done the most work @ 2050 rounds (123gn bullet at 2550fps) however I am unable to remove the first baffle as it has Stuuck and wont undo, and the pics are slightly off centre

All Are DPT, the man makes a good product

Just gave it a quick wipe with a paper towel. I'm sure it's fine just kinda got a shock with how much it looks hammered already.

If I was sent that picture with no background info and asked how many rounds it has had through it id say maybe 800 +. A s/s blast baffle would definitely stop that.

Ideally an email should be sent to us and we can discuss this further sales@dpt.co.nz keeping in mind we are on holiday for two more weeks so I will reply as soon as I can

    Thank you

Looking at it more id actually lift that to over 1000 rounds. That is rather “baffling” with only 25 rounds through it

Rifle was only purchased a month ago. With new suppressor supplied. It was flawless before first shots and out of 2 boxes of 20 rounds I have 16 left.

I can supply date of purchase and from where if required.

My 243’s running a DPT, and I’ve probably put 200 + rounds through it.
The first baffle looks a shit load better than yours.
Maybe you got a ‘used’ baffle in error as MD says
    Very happy with mine
Darren’ll see ya right, stands behind his product.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

My 14inch 308 is holding up way better than that, i think the other chaps might be onto something and you have been given a second hand one without knowing?

I would say looking at that Pic there is a hell of a lot of unburnt powder hitting that baffle courtesy of your short barrel & factory rounds

I would always use a SS first baffle on a barrel that short especially with an over bore case like the 243.

I bet plenty of Guys with "Bush Pigs" would fill their pants if they were able to look inside their suppressors...even with only a couple of boxes through them...

As mentioned previously with a segmented can you can pull it to bits to see whats going on, with the others you need a bore scope to give yourself a fright

I am well aware it will require a s/s baffle and no it was perfect before first shots, definitely not substituted second hand component.

Will contact dpt via email furthermore
