Most barrel blank makers pull the buttons
Some push
Tony Hawkins machine had an ingenious pusher for his buttons
Some home tinkerers push buttons with a massive hydraulic ram
It can work to make a sort of serviceable pistol barrel
Most likely will turn to shit with a long rifle barrel
The amateur on line ones I've seen were just relying on the in built twist on the button to get their twist rate.
The professional buttoned barrel makers have a sine bar controlling the twist as well and can often speed up or slow down the twist a few inches either way.
Depending on the grind of the specific button

Oh I do wish this wasn't so as a SMLE would be ideal candidate for 444 marlin or .45/70.44/40,44magnum single shot magless rifle... But I trust @akaroa1 to know best.

Is a barrel liner glued into a bored barrel an alternate way that would work?
Glued liners can work with low pressure calibers - 22LR being the most common. Often it's simply not feasible with higher pressure rounds and the available material (wall thickness) left in the parent barrel. I know of several people that did this with stuffed LE barrels converting them to 22LR trainers. Effectively it's just an extended 8mm drill bit with a pilot ground into the nose of the drill in a lathe so the drill doesn't bit one side and wander off, and then a chamber insert to be made up. Glue the insert to the liner, then glue the assembly into the barrel.
Hardest part now is getting a suitable liner, I got two off MAB when they were still in business in Aussie - no idea where you'd get one now!
As far as the buttons, it's easier to pull them as they self-align to a certain extent. Pushing can give you issues with the button tipping and all sorts of other gremlins popping in for a visit. The main risk with pulling is the forces being high enough to shear the button off the pulling system.
Trueflight did a 358 barrel and fitted it for me some 5 years back.
I just took the 308 one off and has a new S/S 358 Win one fitted. Sav 99.
If you are still in the North America it may well be cheaper if someone is set up to drill and cut your exisiting one.
However an email to TF would give you an idea of what a new barrel would cost and it will shoot well.

Thanks for the info guys, I will pursue options, Here in Alberta, I have one lead for rebore, time being the biggest problem, moving mid 2025.
It doesn’t look like rebore, is possible in NZ, but it may be possible, to make a barrel stub, from existing barrel and rebarrel.
Might just be cheaper to sell the barrel and buy a new one, if you can get it in time before you leave.
