Enhanced penetration and discarding sabot ammunition are two separately prohibited ammunition types.
Yes, a grey area - read the description in the link you posted.."Small-diameter projectiles designed to pierce armour that are placed into a supporting plug (a sabot) and then pushed down the bore as an assembly; the sabot is stripped off when the assembly leaves the barrel

Sorry my mistake in wording, I should have been more explicit in my reply. There is no grey area as the projectile "sabotted" must be designed to pierce armour as it is explicit in the description. So a soft point hunting projectile can be "sabotted" with no legal ramifications.

There are then several other somewhat overlapping prohibitions on enhanced penetration and armour piercing.

Let's face it. It is typical of them trying to cover everything with weasel words but still don't do it properly.
They could have mentioned normal sporting sabot ammunition as ok and it wouldve been clear as crystal.
I doubt they even thought of them as there is bugger all about.
It wouldve been all about military stuff etc which of course we were all into along with ARs, AKs etc and why we are all so scary to them.

I think the 204 is an amazing cartridge, Factory ammo has been a little hard to come by since the covid took over, I reload for it and there is plenty of options for projectiles etc..
It's a very hard hitting round for its size, I've taken pigs at100 to 150 meters with a 40 grain pill and they never get up.

Yep, 204 is awesome. Does most of what the 22-250 can do with less bang and less recoil.

it could be argued no need for .22 hornet or .222 once the .223 came along.
    .22magnum too
ammunition cost is similar unless handloading which is where the hornet has always shined altough with primer prices that is not such a huge difference per round anymore.
    75/15/10 black powder matters
