Horrible things
if they made them lefthand id had one in stainless, laminate in 260 or 7mm08 years ago 🤬😪
Defiance makes a Rem 7 action in left hand.but the action itself is probably the price of two new rem 7 right hand.
I own two of them and the only negative I found, aside from the heavy synthetic stocks, dumb rem J-lock and average triggers that needed to remedied on mine that were bought a long time ago is that with pointy high BC projectiles it is difficult to have a loaded round that will feed out of the mag and be with coee (100 thou or less) of the lands. Eventually I may rebarrel one of mine in 6.5 creedmore or 6.5x47 lap to have a nice short round.
I shot my first deer ( and the next 100) with my Model 7 in 7mm08.
Have spent thousands on Sakos and custom barrels since.
My next purchase is a Model 7.
My next sale will be a Sako 85 that owes me 6k
Will be lucky to get 2k for it and I dont care.
Might give you some idea of how much I like model 7z.
Will likely be a GA Precision Templar action on a model 7 footprint. 7mmSaum in a Manners stock.
Recently bought this off a forum member. Like new, modded laminate stock. .223, shoots about .75moa average with initial handholds.
I like my Mod 7 223 had it for many years, stock standard rifle, but shots around an inch at 100 yds which is good enough for me.
Nothing wrong with the Model 7, I had one which was an early model in .243 and that thing was a great wee shooter. I did think about suppressing it but it was a joy to carry unsuppressed as I have a few other rifles which are suppressed.
It was a youth model with shorter stock. I bought a plastic model 7 stock off Trade Me and that was just junk, then bought the stock shown off Trade Me for $75 and I was away. You can also get Boyd stocks for them aswell.
I think the earlier Models were better built and that goes for all Remingtons as the earlier firearms built before the accountants got their hands on the company as I have a stunning Model 700 built in 1968 which has had bugger all use and that action is slick, the stock is stunning and its from an era when rifles were built to great standards.
If your after a lightweight gun, keep an open mind to Kimbers as you can get some reasonably priced ones about. I have one in 7mm-08 and its a great wee shooter. Like the Model 7 it too has a pencil thin barrel only really designed for 3-4 shots where the barrel warms up too much but then I bought the rifles for hunting, not paper shooting.
Seventenths just alluded to my question which is if you had the choice between the model 7 223 with Ken henderson stock and kimber montana 223 for an all day all weather carry for goat culling which would you choose. I currently have cz527 and am thinking of changing.
Well that is good question. Couldn't go wrong with either. For me, the Kimber quality of build, trigger and weight out of the box is tough to beat.
seventenths and tikka7mm08 you have made my mind up. kimber it is. if the new light wieght savage, not sure what its called ,spiral cut bolt etc diddnt have a dodgy looking plastic mag i would of been tempted as its very light and a lot cheaper. sorry if ive shifted the thread a bit, have always wanted the model 7 but trying to keep things as light as.
@superdiver the 120 amax has been good to me on game I have had 3 one hit wonders with them. generally back of shoulder collapsing animals. I have had one that needed a back up, cou de gras. but that was a horrible near miss on my part not the bullet.
I went to the 120 as it gives more seating length compared to the 140. And the velocity is what gives it the great effect.
I need to single feed 140's so they tend to be a paper punch round more than the 120's
I looked at them many years ago (I think when the stainless ones first came out) and found them too muzzle light for my liking. This was before the days of suppressors and I imagine the extra weight of one would make a big difference in that regard.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
