    Sako 75 scope mounting options

Now that I've finished my long range build I thought my zeiss v6 would be the optimum scope for the job. It must however have quite a wide objective bell. I have optilocks and sako ringmounts (high) and the objective still hits the proof barrel with both. Only just... but enough. Are there any other options without going to a rail? I like to top load. Any help appreciated. The other option is to change to a 44mm objective such as this one.

Take a look at the Burris Zee rings with variable inserts. They do a base that fits the Sako 75 receiver and the variable inserts allow you to add 10 or 20 moa cant. I’ve got some and will take pics for you. Reloaders should have them

I had a scope situation where I used the plus 20s on the bottom of rings front and back and the -20s on top to get a scope to clear the barrel just.....
I then had to grind a groove in the bottom of the scope cap so that it would fit.

Unfortunately, if you want to take advantage of the cant, you need the minus on the bottom at front and plus on the bottom at the back, which will tilt the front of the scope closer to the barrel.

Yes correct I have mounted 50 & 56mm objectives with these successfully on Sako75s. The 56mm had tiny slimmest of clearances to the bbl.

I am very disappointed with Sako 75 & 85 mounting options. One piece Sako optic lock $350( stainless), only suit the small objects scope.
For the bigger objects scope, Sako optilock two pieces stainless base and ring $609.99, way too expensive.
put a rail on it? no many options again $299 plus it’s not strong enough for the heavy scope and high recoil caliber, the scope and rail fall from the rifle and hit the shooter on the face! Hawkins and Nightforce rings are my favorites.

I got a set of 30mm optiloks for $150, and mounted a premier 3-15x50 on my sako Bavarian. If a rail falls off a rifle, it has been installed by a muppet.

Nah mate , it’s a Swarovski DS scope with a contessa rail, that ended up with two extra hole drilled down the rail into the action and screwed.

Like what @MSL said you can pick up mint second hand sako mounts for about half the RRP, I brought some optilock bases and rings for $121 a couple of weeks ago. I have always found optilocks to be 100% reliable although a little heavy

The optilock are good, but no many choices for the Sako 85s. There’s no holes on the 85’s dove tail to screw down the rail, so the rail only grab it by two little clamps. The SwaroDS , rail and rings weigh at about 1.5kg, no way the rail can handle it by the two little clamps.

If you use a optilock base and low or medium ? 30mm rings you can fit a x44 or x50mm on a 7mm mag spotter profile bbl. the details of which rings to use for each scope objective size is on the packaging.

Rock, the optilock bases and rings cost about $A300 here. You are getting reamed big time.
