Very Nice @mcche171.
It's great to see southern hemisphere scenery. Some of that is Victorian Sambar country isn't it ?
Anyway, the Peak seems to be the successor to the carbonlight ?
Do you have any list of cartridges for the XS ? Tell them I want 6ARC or 6.5 Grendel.
Do you know what are the differences between the Quest and the Quest Ultra ?
I see the Ultra has a carbon barrel but what else ?
I'm looking for 300PRC.
And what's the story with 28 Nosler ? Is it the new "modern 7mm" ?
Finally, do they all come with muzzle brakes ? (The gun your mates don't like)
Are there any material differences to the 85? Have been working so yet to see the vids - figured there might be some new advancements but nothing obvious jumping out at me from what I've read so far.
I wonder if the Carbonlight stock coating issue with it rubbing off has been fixed.
So you own a Fatbum aka 22-250 and you are still kept in the dark ages with a 14 twist. Big yawn Sako.
Hi
Yes the peak is the new Carbonlight. In XS you will only see .223. Unfortunately the 6ARC and Grendel wouldn’t sell 1/100th of the total number of units required to do R&D, production change etc etc.
On the Quest, yes Ultra refers to the carbon barrel. This barrel will show up in other models later down the track as well. Ie the Peak and S20.
300PRC is a hard one with huge initial demand and now a very steep decline. The 28 Nosler surprised everyone to be honest, but is good to see another option. Shows the power of the US market and their demands. For that reason alone I wouldn’t count out 300 PRC but is a 50/50 chance and I have not heard anything at our end.
Quest Ultra and Peak come with brakes.
No 270 Win :/
Is the varmint model going to come in 204 ruger?
Is the 22-250 in the varmint ( and also other range) come with a 1 in 8” twist as option?
I feel Sako missed a bit the boat when they released the S20 with only one length of action for every caliber up to 300 Wm.
They should have done a short/ medium action up to 6.5prc and a longer / beefier action to take all the long and magnum rounds up to the big nosler and ultra mag ( and even lapua and norma?)
That way they would have covered the Much anticipated long prc’s as well.
With an optional adapter to take the AICS mags. They probably would have sold like hot cakes!
So far, the "Varmint" doesn't have any actual varmint calibres.
I wonder if the XS action could be too narrow to take PPC sized cases.
