    Sako Ring Height Question

I've tried searching and googling but keep getting a mix of advice and hoping that I can locate someone with a similar set up to advise on ring height for a Sako 85 Finnlight. Have a new to me 85 Finnlight on the way. Have a Kahles scope with 50mm objective and 1" tube. Looking at the Leupold ring mounts. Can anyone advise if the medium height will be tall enough? Or, if you have a 50mm objective scope on your Finnlight, do you know the measurements between the receiver and the scope tube? Can likely work it out with that data.

Generally wouldn't be in a rush and would just await arrival and measure however have a trip booked and need to get things up and going ASAP so don't have time to send mounts back and forth or wait to measure.

    You will need the high.
The med will just accommodate a 40mm objective.

The Sako Optilock Ringmount - not the separate base and ring Optilock, only comes in one height in either 1" or 30mm. There is no high Sako Optilock Ringmount. On my Sako 85 Black Bear .308 which has a heavier barrel than the Finnlight, the Ringmount has 5.5mm clearance for a Leupold 3.5-10x40. However, there is only 4mm of clearance between the breech part of the barrel and that scope.

You have several other different brand mounting options for the Sako that would probably suit you better than Optilocks.

You are correct but he is asking about Leupold mounts of which there is a meduim and high but no low in 30mm.
Medium wont mount his chosen scope but high will.
@jakewire has some 30mm optilocks that will do the job.

Cheers guys. Ordered the medium and high leupold ring mounts so that I can try them both. Will post up results once I have time to install and check.

You're right Cam, my mistake. That's what happens when I use cheap Warehouse reading glasses instead of buying a decent pair.

Cheers Cam but mine have been since sold.

I'd put a rail on it then you can do whatever you want.
