    Not a bloody chance.
There is a cheap fix for a guncity branded scope. Take a hammer and smash out the glass at each end.

I bet at 100 yards the groups would be halved at least.

As for low end rifles, you gotta start somewhere. Mine was a $25 303. My first car wasn't that flash either. Nowadays im more discerning.

You would be mad to restrict yourself to buying a boring plastic tikka when they're no better than any number of other options you can buy for the same price or less.

Have had two Marlin XS7s (in 308 and 243) go through the closet and was quite impressed with them as entry level units. Reasonably well put together, good features (pillar bedding, adjustable trigger, fluted bolt etc) and well capable of 0.5" groups at 100m with handloads for alot of shooters. Have shot many a crapper over the years but the XS7 is not one of them. Good worker centrefire. I'd recommend them in their price range. Savage Trophy Hunter is another we picked up recently for $7-800 - another entry level rifle and a fine wee shooter. If you wish to shoot well on the range or in the field both will do the job without spending too much coin.

I would wager your Tikka wont out shoot my shitty 7 year old Marlin 243 with its crappy Nikko scope and factory ammo.
No game that this rifle has been used on has lived to tell the tale, and I don't give a rats posterior if I scratch it etc
I have better rifles now, but nothing wrong with the proper Marlins, before Rem took over manufacture

I had a Remington 783 for a while, $800 capable of MOA not a problem, only got rid of it for a left handed centrefire. Sure it's not the same as a tikka and occasionally it won't pick up a round from the mag but for 800 I couldn't complain

Nephew turned up 2 years ago with his first rifle, a Remington 770, didnt want to say anything truthful as he was as pleased as with it and said now i have a remy like yours (mine has one less 7 and another 0). Anyhow take it down the river and it shot as well as my 700!, 20 mm at 100 m. Bolts scratchy and binds so i lap and moly it so it runs freely. Stock rings like a drum when you knock it, so space invader foam to the rescue. Its no beauty queen for sure but it ticks the boxes for some and is accurate enough for hunting purposes. I guess budget guns have their place.

@Marty Henry - so true for young fellas and pensioners.
A $500 Omark 44, with quite a few TR accessories included spins my wheels.
Added a Nighteater 6-24 x 56 IR scope on a modified Rem SA 20 MOA rail, 30mm rings and good to go F/TR.
Bought a Lee Collet neck sizer, various projectiles plus all of the above through Buy, Sell, Swap forum here.
    Nett cost - about $1K
The Hornady Classic Reloading kit (complete from Outdoor Supplies - my local gunshop), has been the most expensive single piece of gear - $1200.
Most 'lesser quality' shooters on here (and TM), with all the stuff required to go hunting (excluding reloading gear), isn't that much cheaper.
Mind you - the bones are over bush walking, camping and surviving lousy weather, so it's the range for me - until I can't get off/down to shoot.
    Cheers

Ruger M77's just keep on going and have served me well over the year, solid dependable and accurate, and at least you get a variety of stock options, not the cheapest and by no means the most expensive, love my Ruger M77 and don't own anything else...
