eBay dude ,I just got a sweet deal for a scope with warentee still in the box unused , 400bucks! Well worth a look
I have brand new Nikko Nighteater 4-16x44 here at around the $400 mark and will include shipping if that is of any help. But I would still suggest looking at the Airking 4-12 at around $200 as it is what I would use, myself.
(when I say brand new I mean Brand new. Not that I bought it and didn't use it but that it is still part of the shop stock and is unsold, unused etc)
Or these are in budget and from what I have seen they are pretty good value too

I have a Nikko Stirling Nighteater 3-10 x 40 I think on my .22mag. Can't fault it for the price.

i have a BSA sweet 17 on my hmr. It was cheap, around $220 from memory and it works well for the price so depending on what you want to spend it could be ideal.
It has the dialling turrets set for a hmr and has worked for me out to 270m. I hung a couple old small frying pans on a fence, ranged it via a gps at 270m and dialed the scope and hit it first time. It is a 6-18x40 so heaps of zoom although it does go a bit blurry over 16x and the glass isn't as clear as my vortex but it was half the price and i have no trouble hitting the target. Last week i shot a rosella at around 100m, cut it in half so for hares will be plenty.
If i could have a full time job shooting pests i'm up for over time.
Thanks for all the options guys, my savage 17hmr arrived in the mail today and it ahs a heavy barrel, so I would prefer having a scope which isn't too heavy also
An hmr has serious range for a rimfire. You'll want a scope that'll allow you to shoot to 250 at least

I just purchased a nikko 3x9x42 niteeater scope, is that good??? Can you give me some recommendations for scope mounts/rings as I've heard some are better than others?
