Vortex Optics - Diamondback HP 3-12x42 Dead-Hold BDC

I picked up one of these a few weeks ago which might suit your brief. 42mm gives a touch wider FOV, ballistic reticle for playing around on some longer stuff too. The HP is the better glassed version of the Diamondback, on par with the Viper which by all accounts is very good. I've only had time to sight it in quickly before going hunting and bowling a sika yearling at about 5m...so it works well up close! Just need to finish working out a load and then I can put the drop marks to use and get it working as a really good bush - 500yd set up without having to dial up but another plus is that turrets can be zeroed once you've sighted in too so yo have both options. And for the money it's bloody hard to beat.

I bought mine in from Gun Emporium in Melbourne for about $550 from memory. You can get them a bit cheaper from the US but it was quicker ex Aus and no potential issues with duties / GST etc. Optics Planet should have them now, they were on back order when I wanted mine and Optics Zone said they weren't allowed to ship Vortex any longer after complaints from company. I'm heading to the range this weekend and won't be as rushed so I'll let yo know if there are any issues or other things I like about it.
