Vortex Diamondback 4-12×40. BDC reticle. Only shot out to 250 m using hashmarks and it bang on. Happy with mine.

I’d be going for a second hand Leupold 3-7, I know that’s not what you asked; but my preference.
They often come up here and in Trademe.

I’m still undecided about selling or keeping the 2-7x33 I just took off my Bergara, might put it on my 22 and triple the value of the combo!

A Leupold 2.5-8x36 with Boone & Crockett reticle would be hard to beat (if you can find one)

@viper have you ever tried a scope in the 1.5 - 6 or 1 - 8 range ? I have two takedown rifles and those mag ranges would be my pick. On 1.5 they can be shot 'both eyes open and off either shoulder if you practice. I think having a scope that allows shooting a deer past 300 is a non event and wont happen with a takedown short barreled rifle and I would forget about it. Even with a rifle set up that can shoot accurately to distance, how often do we really need to shoot even 350 with no option of getting closer ? Almost never!
