Scout scopes - what are they like to use?

Hey guys, I am considering one of those long eye relief scopes for my Marlin lever gun, something like these:

    https://www.outdoorsupplies.co.nz/Le...5x33Scout.html

The reason I am after it is I want a scope that does not overhang the rear or my rifle so much as my current scope does (for normal 3inch eye relief scopes they have to overhang the Marlin rear quite a bit to be usable), I would like to have it in the sort of configuration in the below photo if I can.

I have never used one before and don't know anyone who has one, are they weird to look down with the eye relief being so long compared to a "normal" scope?

Any other thoughts on scout scopes in general?

Had one on my lever action they're fast to bring up and aline with the eye but the FOV is crap, I personally didn't like it and went to a red dot or 1-4x32 scope.

Hmmm that doesn't sound good, I currently have a Vx6 1-6 which is a true one power like your 1-4...maybe I am best sticking with that and living with the scope overhang.

Was it the VX-R scout you tried or another brand/model?

Bushnell prime 1-4x32, scope overhangs, I got a hammer spur which makes cocking easy.
