    Absolutely.

If a tool does its job well then it has its own good looks. Engineering elegance.

Personally don't give two hoots what it looks like, but as someone who is saving for a 338lm I find the idea of a semi auto very appealing-if out of my price bracket both to buy and run(as I know I would use more ammo trying to keep the gong ringing)

Most US Optics scopes have only a short eye relief of 2 inches , where as most other brands LR scopes are 3.75 to 4.0 inches , so poor old Gunny closed up to the scope to get the right sight picture , that and maybe letting the rifle slip a bit , and got bit by the scope .
So not totally Gunnys fault ? , the only USO scope I have with good eye relief is the MST-100 , which was designed by Unertl & not USO , the MST-100 is a fixed 10x scope and has 3 inches of eye relief .

22 inches is kind of short for a .338lpm barrel and you would stuff cases kind of fast (trying to convince myself I don't need one).

I will buy one for my next posting to Afghanistan.

    Which would be never.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
