Another thing to bear in mind is that shops (even the ones with the staff with most integrity) will try to sell you what they have in stock . . . . It's how they make a dollar. If you can it's best to identify exactly what best fill your requirements then ask your local to supply it, if they can't or won't then go further afield!
You have that correct, "what's on our shelves is best for you"
There isn’t really a seasonal dip, except maybe in the bigger stores during june when they clear stock for end of financial year reasons. @Coop may be able to confirm/deny/expand on that. At any rate, best time to buy is when you see something that
a- works
b- fits
c- you like
d- you can afford
If A through C are all fulfilled, it won’t matter what you buy afterward, that rifle will be one you keep hunting with.
I have found that gun shop staff can be a bit funny when they don’t know you, but once that relationship is established it’s good.
It is far better than shopping somewhere like JB Hifi/Bunnings where the sales assistant comes and asks if they can help, when you ask a question about something you’re holding and have already read all the writing on the packet, they start reading the writing before trying to answer your question.
We don't really do a end of financial year sale. We'll have 3-4 sales a year with our biggest ones probably Father's Day and Christmas.
