A couple of weeks with mucking around with it in the evenings. Along with the appropriate number of shed beers.

It's rough as guts! The "buffer tube" for adjustable length of pull, started life as a tripod extender from aliexpress...
As an experiment for overall shape and the functions I wanted it's great. If bits ever fall off it the MkII version will be made with a bit more care

Some real nice rifles posted, few of them a fair bit lighter than mine. Was interested to see how light some have managed to get them.

Heres mine. Sako A7 in 7-08, 14.5 inch barrel, Atec front supressor & wears a Vixen 2-8x32. Weighs a fly shit over 3kg with the supressor + 3 rounds, ready to hunt. Shoots 90gr HH at 3120fps.

Interesting. My 308 A7, 16inch DPT and VX3HD 2.5-8×36 comes in at 3.4kg. Would love a carbon stock for it but no easy options there.

My brother also shoots a Sako A7 in 7-08, its 15" with a DPT and we were trying to work out why his was a couple hundred grams heavier than mine. Pulled them both apart and turns out theres at least 2 different synthetic stocks that the A7 came with. Mine being the lighter (weighs only 520grams) and his being considerably heavier (730 grams).

Must have changed the density or added fillers to the polymer when making the stocks. 520grams is light as and in line with the lightest cf stocks

Yeah not sure but it definitely surprised me. The extra weight in my brothers seems to be mostly in the palm area, and his has alot of extra webbing in the barrel channel area that mine doesnt have. None of my carbon stocks have ever been close to as light as this factory stock.

    Hey mate.

Yea I painted the stock as I didnt like the tan colour. It's held up surprisingly well. If you have a look through this thread you will see what I did.

Is your stock an earlier one than your brothers?

Im not sure but im going to guess that mine is a earlier one than his. Serial number on mine begins with a A his begins with a J. Cant find much info online but one would assume that means mine is one of the early ones.

The early A7 stocks got a rep for breaking so that might explain it.

Makes sense, at only just over 500 grams for a synthetic stock its incredibly light compared to say a standard tikka stock.
