A few, mostly with the trusty FN. Will never own another one as the passing on of my mint L1A1 brings back too many sad memories

yes I will take a moment in silence and remember my old 742 woodsmaster - best damn bush rifle I ever carried - first day I ever took it out arrived back on block walked up a side stream of the Te Hoe up from the logging on Mangataniwha - shot a hind and yearling and then a stag all within 2 hours - had a little 2.5 fixed power leupold on it - great combination in the bush- and yes .308

about 1980 Te Tawa 3 of us in the roar did a big trip -you will know the area well - we went down the Waiau from Whites clearing all the way down and came out at Mangataniwha station lower Waiau - bloody decent walk - me mate took his browning Bar in .270 - bloody thing fired one shot and then would not recycle rest of trip - he had effectively a single shot - gave him a bit of stick as me clunky old 742 rem just kept going - I will never tackle that lower gorge before the farmland ever again - damn scary-

Had a BAR rebarreled in 257 Roberts by the late Tony Hawkins, was great but sold it during a weak moment and regretted it, but glad I didn't have to hand it in like my 270.

Did that trip a wee bit earlier. But cut up onto the Ridge below Sid's and dropped down into a deep eel infested creek then over the top down to the lake. First hut had some delicious trout sitting around all lonely, if you're reading this thank you very much.
