    Somethings wrong

I had a barrel removed from an honest 3 shot 1/2 to 3/4 inch rifle. I mucked with another caliber for awhile didn't use it much then sold the new barrel and had the old one, the one I'd taken off screwed back in.
The problem now is I took it out this morning fir the frist time aver having the original barrel put back, used the same ammunition but cannot get any more than 2.5-3.5" three shot groups
It has the same barrel, same stock, same action , same scope, same rings, same rail.

Only difference is the barrel has been taken off then put back on
I do notice the screws where the open sights were don't line up straight like they used to, are off ever so slightly to the left.
Would this be usual? and another load have to be developed, or is something else wrong.

    Thanks.

Sight screws off to the left suggests its back on a bit tighter than it came off, one would wonder why?. What's the rifle?

Change in head space? Maybe reload some of the cases you have now fired formed through it and see if that makes a difference?

    Cheers lads
I'll try a little more and a little less length and see how i go.
Sad part is I have 100, well less todays poor effort of the old load.

Something is different. It could be slightly decreased headspace but I would be starting with the scope mounting and the bedding. Check that your stock screws are not bottomed out as well. More data on the loads and how cases are sized would be useful.

Got caught out by loose rings this week
My own simple error and super hard to mess up talleys but a good reminder not to overlook the basics

    Hi grandpamc.
As yourself and others have said I'll check everything again before I shoot again
However it is bedded into an B&C Alaskan 11 stock, this didn't make any real difference as it shot well in the original BDL stock and was done before the barrel removal.
I didn't put it back together so will take it out and put it back in , I did however put the previous scope it had on it back on in exactly the same place on the rail .I will as above take apart and put it all back together again including checking rings rail etc.
The ammo is out of the same batch as before, not another batch.

I cannot put it down to bad shooting as I also took out another 30 06 and a 6.5x55 and they are shooting fine.

Who put the barrel back on?

If DIY, how tight was it screwed on? (Assuming torque wrench was used)

How did you ensure the recoil lug was square to the action (i.e not slanted relative to the centreline of the action)?

@jakewire, do bear in mind that you've also gotten a bit older and feebler in between.
