As long as you familiar with the terrain - country you are shooting in and have permission or ownership to do so - do what your capable/comfortable with
I bugged now over 100m - wont even try

well I AM a grumpy old man
I have shot thousands of animals under a spotlight over a lot of years
    I have shot a deer with buckshot too,in a spotlight,that was running,itwas 20 yards not 200 and was headshot.
inbred???27th generation KIWI so maybe somewhere along the line

shot a pig under spotlight one night, thought 30lb and hundred yards...yeah nah 90lb and over 200yards plurry hard to judge distance at night up a hill

now if you have put a lazer on barrel underneath...you can set it up so red dot hits Xhair at hundy which tells you straight away if range is less or more than hundy as magic dot is above xhair above hundy yards.....
    gadgetman and tiroatedson like this.

Get a fucking grip. I'm being told I'm a cunt yet who is it shit talking? A bunch of fucking part time warriors that frankly, fuck it, not worth the effort. I've had suits harder than you powder puffs
You brought those comments on yourself mate so it's you who can harden up and suffer the feedback tough shit, don't cry in your milk. You left out 'criminal' and 'uncontrolled bad temper' from the list of 'names' that you've been called. Criminal - because you have 'Poacher' on your stag skull and crossbones and regarding 'Temper' if you are not from a family of trash inbreds how else do you explain your abusive tirade and low IQ ?
You've had the opportunity to tell us what you think is realistic spotlighting distances but no you prefer to abuse others.
If I wasn't such a nice person I would tell you to go k your sister - again

you know the discussions on how far away you can/do shoot something in spotlight is rather like a preschool pissing contest.....
for me the old saying still holds true
"get as close as you can son, then 5 yards closer"
