Spotting Scope recommendations for Southern Alps

    Hey All,

Looking for recommendations on spotting scopes. I have been searching through the forum and various sites and I’m finding it pretty difficult to decide.

I like good gear, but the spotter wouldn’t come along every trip so probably looking at the value for money section below the top tier optics.

Sightron SII BLUE SKY 20-60X85 HD (ANGLED) has my attention and feedback on it would be great.

Considering Vortex Razor but also seen Delta which I don’t know of pop up.

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers
    Carl

What sort of price range would you like to be in? And are you after a more compact 65mm scope or a full sized 80-85mm?

I have had a couple of Swarovski ATS now and when I had my last one I bought one of the delta spotters. Sold the swaro, kept the Delta. They probably wouldn't hold a candle to an ATX but very good value for money and noticeably better than the ATS

My mate has a sightron s2 spotting scope and we have used a scope cam on it shooting as far as 1000 yards on steal and rabbits nearly as far and have found it to have really excellent glass for the money. Not a big fan of the focus wheels. You do have to pay alot to get the focus around the body. I havnt had much experience with other spotting scopes but id be very comfortable recommending the sightron.

Have a look at the Athlon Ares G2 UHD15-45x65, can't fault it. Compact and very clear. Reviews have it on par with Razor at half the price.
