No @MSL
Is Andrew an authorized Swaro technician? If he isn't, then it may void the Swaro warranty.
If you've got a modern pair of binos which are still covered under warranty, I simply don't see the point in sending them to anyone other than the factory service-people. That way if anything happens to your binos during the repair process, you'll be given a new pair. It's just peace of mind.
Better to wait a little while longer, and perhaps borrow a marginal pair of binos in the interim, than risk having your good pair buggered/or the warranty nullified due to being impatient.
The Zeiss Victory HT binos are superb. They're probably the best low light binos in the 8X42 and 10x42 range. I had a new pair of 10x42's that I foolishly sold because I was having trouble with my eyes at the time. I rate them at least the equal of if not better than the top Swaro and Leica binos optically. Basically, the HT's which replaced the FL model has been replaced by the Zeiss SF which has different prisms and a redesigned hinge mechanism.
I tried them out last night/evening
Was blown away by not only the clarity but the strength of magnification - and without exaggerating my shake.
Been trying to sell them 1300$ under Retail price (they are New)
Think they might have to stay where they are now - hence why I did not want to trial them :-(
Well they actually cost more $4490 RRP
I have used only Range Swaro & Leica in 10x42 and these are as good but feel nicer in hands and eye-cups (for me)
And as my 79 year old neighbor states he had his up against all others in big open country at dusk and likes Zeiss more
But each to their own I think
I generally prefer 8x but these 10x seem perfect fron me over other 10x Alpha
I think Zeiss has been bastardized over their Terra - Conquest range
Stupid in my book to have done what they did
Carl Zeiss prob turn in his grave if he saw
