Thread: Talley rings help

Hey fellas I need a bit of guidance of some new rings

I just upgraded the scope on my 308 bush pig from a Leupold freedom 4-12x40 being a 1” tube using Talley lows to vx6 2-12x42 being a 30mm tube.

I will obviously need to buy new talley 30mm rings but I was wondering if lows would be ok or if I would need mediums.

Figure surely a couple guys running similar set ups here

I had a T3x with a Leupold 40mm and Talley Extra Low Rings and there was a good amount of clearance. I'd guess that Talley Low Rings would be OK, but that comes with no guarantees.

I've currently got a set of Talley ultralights for a T3 that had my loopy vx5 3 to 15 X 44 in them and they were on the money for height.

they are 16b s? measured from underside of base to bottom ring they are 10.5 mm

I run Talley lows with a vx5 on a t3x which has the d18 barrel. Sits nice and has enough clearance for the bikini cover caps.

do the measurements mate, you should be able to figure it out as all the scope/rings dimensions are available.

I got a spare set of lows if you are after some

I'm running talley mediums with both a VX5 and VX6, the cheek weld works best for me there

Buy some plasticene and plop it on top of the receiver where the rings will go with the scope on top and make sure the bolt does not touch the scope as you operate it. Measure the height and bingo

A VX6 on a bush pig is one heck of an upgrade!

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.
