Tap and drill for scope mounts

Hi, A friend is looking for a gunsmith in Christchurch preferably who can drill and tap an old target 308 for a scope. Gunworks and Greystone are not interested in doing it.

I can recommend Zac at north Canterbury gunsmiths on the Christchurch side of Rangoon (Rangiora).
unless he is super busy I cant imagine why he wouldnt

It's a South African Musgrave target rifle.

I remember din collings telling me the sa guns were all hardened steel because they had lots of diamond dust tooling and could machine them easily .

    Cheers mate.

I suspected as much. Smiths would prefer not to drill and tap these because of the hardening. If your mate would ever consider selling, please let me know?

I absolutely adore those RSA Musgraves.

    Kindest regards.

This is my pride and joy. Had to drill and tap her too and it was'nt fun......

Its been some time since I've put 200 down a tube in a single session.. Ive got just shy of 200 perfect classed cases for this rifle and found that they fitted quite nicely in this packaging.

The barrel(Krieger) is still in perfect nick, it was fitted in 1996 according to the engraving on the barrel.
