Thread: Thoughts/knowledge sought please

You seem to have arrived at a similar stage in life to me. I sense that you want a special rifle. I use the phrase "last new rifle that I will need" and currently have around 3 of them. The rifle will be special to you and more so if you use it a lot. Perhaps now is the time to have an honest chat with yourself about what your future hunting and rifle use looks like. This should guide what your special rifle will be. With luck it may even be two rifles.

If you go with a custom build ie 243 you can get a fast twist barrel that opens up a hole world of High BC bullets 105-115gr.
Definitely going to be a more gentle shooter than a 7mm anything.
Good for game to 500mtr and targets to 1000 if thats your thing.
So I say find a nice action and stock with a buggered barrel and send it to Trueflite.

Bergara have a few options that come close to your requirements and can be made to suit all the mentioned features.

The mountain pro 2 is carbon stock/stainless ceracote metal, comes with a hinged floorplate but no doubt that could be changed.

The b14 extreme hunter dropped into your choice of carbon stock would also be a nice rifle.

Only thing is they don't come in .243 if that's an issue.
