    Thread Size

Can anyone confirm that these two thread's are the same ? I am planning on having a suppressor made but need to confirm prior(ill also send a email to the manufacturer confirming) .... Im currently going around in circles looking on the net to find out ..
Thread my rifle have is "1/2 x36tpi" I want to know if this is the same "1/2 x36UNS" (which is the thread on the suppressor I want to fit) ...
    Cheers in advance

Looks like uns means unified special thread.
And therefore the 1/2"x36uns has 36 tips per inch (tpi).
So no it won't fit your rifle

Are you sure its 1/2 x 36 as that's really fine?

Thread on my rifle is 1/2" by 36tpi"
This is the standard 9mm thread pitch for AR's
Guess I need to confirm with manufacturer, that they can provide suppressor in my current thread size...
or the email I received from them originally confirming taking on the work could just be a mistake ,as I gave them all my info .and they replied confirming order in correct cal ,colour ..but saying thread would be 1/2×36 UNS ...

I also got a reply from the manufacturer..
"Yes that is correct, the 1/2x36 tpi (stands for 1/2" diameter, and 36
threads per inch) and the 1/2x36 UNS is the thread designation which
specifies the angle of the thread, however they both mean the same"

So im sorted .... cant wait have it made and have it running on my rifle

I don't know what rifle rifle you have , but it would be me I would rethread with something more conventional and larger if there is enough meat on the barrel.

For factory subsonic , Fiocchi make a 158gr subsonic loading you can buy here in NZ , also for reloading maybe buy plated 158gr 357 bullets and run thru a 355 bullet sizing die .

With a thread that fine it is absolutely critical that the mating thread on the suppressor is either steel or stainless steel. Aluminium would strip out very easily and is only suitable for coarse threads.

You may want to look at ammo made by Belmont Ammunition in Wanganui , they have not bad prices if you buy in 500rd boxes etc , and also gives you brass to keep for when you reload etc .
