I would say somebody has forgot to update the online information since the madness started.

totally agree the information needs to be updated, the information I received from the arms office was direct from them when I spoke on the phone and that a permit was required for all firearms parts.
this won't be the last inconsistency I'm sure.
for now it appears if you want the parts you need to have the permit, it's not hard to get just have to follow the process.....well at least this week anyway
Yes a permit is required for anything firearms. Including beleive it or not slings and scope caps.

So what if you wanted to buy a scope from overseas but don’t have a licence?
They’re not restricted to FAL holders are they?
For example, if my wife was going to bring a scope back to Nz in luggage and applied for an import permit, would she be able to have one granted?
When you get the import permit does NZ Police automatically send it to/notify customs? Reason I ask, is I have the permit application underway but the item has also been sent already.
You could order one from nzrac.com (nz repeating arms) they are in nz and have them.
Update. Item arrived today, no issues going through customs and still haven't received the permit two weeks later.
That's good news, I have one I need to get installed in my stock but all my local Gunsmith's are busy with compliance mod's 3-4 week wait I have been told. Have you lined someone up to do the install or are you going to do it yourself there's a bit of milling involved for the std stock. If you have a CTR they drop in apparently.
BC doesn't matter, until you need to dial
