Buy the gun and dont worry. Look at the stats of the number of T3's V number of bolts lost, it is not high

I do however know someone who went away on a trip with his 308 and took his .223 mag, had to single feed.............in saying that he still shot 2 deer!!!

Better than me who went on a hunt, drove for 3 hours to the place and only then to find out I "lost" my bolt in my safe at home, if you know what I mean. LOL!

I smashed my bolt shroud on my T3 when I bumped bolt release dropping the bolt onto concrete. I can quite believe how easy it would be to loose a bolt in this manner if you weren't paying attention & had action open. I'm guessing having a good half cock installed would help prevent this. Judging by the sheer number of boltless T3's for sale either hunters are rooting their bolts through over loading or just plain loosing them through bumping the bolt release.

I have two T3's - and have never had a problem with the bolt coming out in the bush or anywhere else for that matter.

The bolt goes in the rifle as soon as it comes out of the rifle case or softbag and comes out of the rifle when the rifle goes back in the bag - or before I enter a hut ( in which case it goes in the butt bag along with the magazine

I dont know where all this gibbering about bolts coming out of T3's comes from.

If you were really paranoid I would imagine you could drill a hole in the bolt removal button and place a locking pin in there so thing could never come out by accident ....

I usually carry rifle closed & decocked on an empty chamber (with the usual provisions - mates know, and bolt removed going into a hut/campsite) and I've not lost a bolt yet.
Just being paranoid - this is gonna be a rifle for newbies - joys of living in Palmy North - lots of vet students, and most of them are attractive women! Surprisingly bloodthirsty, the lot of 'em!

My 270 kicks like a mule, and everyone that has used it (bar me) has ended up with blood on the face

but who would walk around with action open and bolt slapping around??? Would have to be quite careless to not notice a bolt missing after a fall or something.

Out smashing goats with mine a number of times being a lefty I'd hook the sling over diagonally my back on the right shoulder and as a result even on a closed chamber (empty) the bolt would unload itself and quite happily dangle to the rear. Pretty easy then for the bolt removal button to be depressed and end up walking away from your bolt. So can totally understand it and I also understand its not that cheap or easy to replace them...

BTW I also remove the magazine in transit too and it goes in the ammo pouch on my day bag, as I hear those too can just.... dissapear... of course all designed features by the manufacturers.

Wrap a metre or two of this around your mag and bolt...am a bit surprised that Tikka's don't come with a roll...of course this is right hand tape, but I imagine they make it for lefties as well.

If you can lose the bolt out of a T3 I'm sure you can loose the bolt out of anything.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Not quite. Not every rifle has a big button on the side to press

    Weeeeeell, I'm now pondering.
Given the amount of Tikkas with missing bolts.... how many tikkas can one bolt fit?
I could have a few different calibres with all these useless tikkas around!
