All of them will do the job though, the choice is mostly what you like the feel of and what fits you. I like my Ruger too because its such a good fit and balance, even though the action isn't as nice.
    +1

The T3 just didn't feel right, the Savage did in my price range. Also not a fan of the T3 bolt eject system and plastic mags and no true short action, nor the oddball default scope grooves. I like the Savage trigger and the three position tang safety. Accuracy wise most rifles seem to be much the same and the T3 guarantee (that they got a group withing x size with y ammo at their range) is worth slightly less than the paper it is printed on IMHO.

I also quite like the Zastava, they seem a reasonably well made and accurate rifle for the money.

I fuken hate the savage trigger. Give me a pre 64 winchester. Ive owned all 3 rems and tikkas are close enough to the same with the tikka being lighter and slicker action and the rem feeling bit more solid. The savage is fine and ive never seen one the wont shoot minuscule groups I just hate that trigger and it killed the gun for me. Im a solid winchester man , money wise id say the howa is hard to go past and are getting a very good rep for accuracy out of the box. Theres s enough shit on the shelf now you cqn make any gun what you want anyway.

Interesting! The only one I don't have is a Tikka. I love the savage Accutrigger.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Those who are saying Savage, is that the Axis? or a different rifle?

Also how does the Howa compare in this lot?

(To the OP - good thread, exactly what I needed!)

They don't mean the axis when they talk about Savage.

The Axis is very average, the Howa is a good rifle, the only complaints I have heard about them is that they are heavier than a Tikka (doesn't bother me!) and the 1:12 .223 twist, just heard the new ones have 1:9 twist s thats 1 problem solved

Thats what I thought - had not seen terribly good reviews about it. However, not seeing too many alternatives when browsing the usual online stores. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place....

Here are some better Savages (not the Edge, thats the same deal as the Axis - really budget model):

    Savage Products - Sportways Gunshed

Still a pretty small sample of what they make, but its one shop to give you an idea. Try here for the whole bunch of current models:

anything but another fucking tikka................................................li ke ive said before if your(person whoever is buying there first rifle) a shit shot/wepon operator !!!..............................then whatever rifle is bought is owned buy a shit shot/wepon operator, dont buy into the shit written on the box you need to practice to to make your rifle shoot well.buy the best deal best feel and fit if its a tikka that's ok if its a Remington that's ok to!!. I don't find these threads constructive at all they always go around in circles.the proof is always in the pud I see top operators work lesser rifle's far better than the more disrable ones because they just make there rifle's work.the rifles being compared in this thread could be given to one guy and they will all shoot as good as he can shoot with fuckall difference between them IMO.

    now for a fucking beer
