I think what they always boil down to is don't buy a budget rifle eg. Remington 770, Edge, Axis, etc. Either save up and buy something better ($900 I reckon is a good dividing line, anything more than that will be fine) or buy one second hand for the same money as a budget rifle.

Or just buy a CZ/Brno and be happy forever!

    Yep good lefty guns

I got the Savage 16 bought 2 one for a mate and me(pre accustock) some years ago as the price was better than tikkas then, has some issues with this, one needed some bolt work one had a bit of rifling missing at the muzzle...all got fixed, all shoots well. Mine got the barrel cut and canned anyway.

got another left 16 from gun city for $750 in a $1 reserve and they were nice enough to send it threaded with a can on it!.....sent the can back to them..weight a tonne anyway.

The pre accustock stocks are crap like all synthetic stocks on cheap guns...but the guns have been excellent and im not about to change.

Americans seem to love there Savages, but there seems to be a following here too.
Seem's to be some very cheap Varmint type Savages on Trademe pretty often, if one in 204 Ruger comes up I think I may have to give it a go.

Might even convert me from my Tikka bug.

I had a Mod.12 VLP in .204 for a while - a dream to shoot but a bitch to carry, at 10lbs bare with a 26" truck axle barrel its definitely a varminter not an all-round hunting rifle. Shot half inch groups, but so does the Mod.14 Classic 223 that replaced it and its 7lbs instead of 10. All depends what you plan to use it for.

I ticked Tika. Ready to go out of the box, and stainless.

But I’ve got one of these Savage Arms in .223, and its as good as anything I’ve ever had.
Only fault is the front swivel stud is too far forward for a good platform for my bi-pod. Its an easy fix, if I ever get around to it.
