Hello Guys
I have a rifle coming that was supposedly rechambered from its original 38-55 to now use a 303 case - I'll have to do a chamber cast when I get it. I don't have it in hand yet but should do soon so am in the "homework" stage.
However a bit of sleuthing to date suggests that Tony Hawkins (now deceased) who was a major force in Black Powder and barrel making in NZ a generation or so ago may have had a hand in it.
According to the 'Net he had a cartridge he called the 38 Hawkins which was his version of the 38-303 or 375-303. Does anyone know anything about it??
I have seem posts on overseas forums by a Kiwi who calls himself "303Guy" - does anyone know who he is, I'd love to talk with him as he has accumulated a lot of knowledge in this area (PM me if confidentiality is an issue)
Thanks
