    I have barrel mounts on a few of my rifles for fitting an IR flashlight for use with our NV units. Works really well. White light torch would work equally well. I also find it useful when swapping scopes because I use a laser sight to indicate point of impact, making zeroing a new scope easier. A laser sight will also work as an adhoc rangefinder because of the parallax difference between the laser beam and scope reticle.
