    Trail cams

Looking for first hand experience of the cams which have mms messaging function. Little bit off topic, girlfriend lives rural and has been getting stuff stolen from her place during the day. Figure the fuckstains will likely spot the camera and take it too but not bothered if it sends a pxt. If not all good I can use it for hunting once they are caught.
Have seen some on TM for just over $200. Any comments gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Got one off t.m. Not happy with it, took days to set up and emails back and forth to China for software. Worked for a few days, then threw a tantrum and doesn't work!

And it can cost you a fortune in data picking up all sorts of shit in terms of sunlight on a cloudy day changing the light rapidly

Stating the obvious I know, but they are bloody useless in areas where the cell phone signal is dodgy.
Any thief will know if this is the case.

Ltl acorn 6210 gmx. My current one has been in the bush nearly 4 years now with zero issues. It only works on the vodafone network and you need a reasonable signal although you can get booster ariels , I have one that took reception from 2 bars to full strength. Battery life is very good , top end AAs last 6 months plus but it depends on how many night time shots demand the use of the flash. The flash on this isnt briliant, its a no glow IR but better models are available now. I have mine set on a lowly 2mp as the old cell tower wont handel any higher. Smart placement will minamize any false triggers.

    Good one @sneeze.
I hadn't considered the size of the picture with regard to sending via mms.

Yes, and you can set it to take a pic at a given time of the day or trigger it by remote by sending a text.

Thanks for taking the time to post all of that, very useful. And thanks to pengy too.

Cell signal is patchy where she is but better in the area I need to put the camera.
