Tripod head recommendations for Delta Titanium 50ED

Now I have moved on my big Vortex 85mm spotting scope and gone down to the midget Delta Titanium 50ED , my existing tripod (Vortex Pro GT) is just too large. I've been looking at some lightweight tripod options, but most seem to come with a Ball Head, rather than a Fluid Head which is what I'm use to.

For those that use a ball head mount with their spotting scope, are there any pitfalls or issues I should know about?

I have a few here but the one like best right now is the e40 40mm ball head. great for spotters/cameras and still big enough to shoot from.
    Only $85

Sold a few bigger ones to guys running bigger scopes or for longer range.

I’ve always used ball heads because they are more compact, the cheaper ball heads have been shit. The best ball head I’ve tried has been a manfrotto 494. At the moment I’ve got a slik mini sprint tripod, was planning on changing the ball head to a manfrotto 494 but haven’t needed to as the one that came on the slik mini sprint does the job well with a 65mm spotting scope on it. It’s probaly slightly easier to pan around if you’re glassing with a fluid head but still easily doable with a ball head. That’s what binos are for anyway

I've got the bigger Delta and just run it on a Slik Mini Sprint 2 also. Goes good and nice compact package that doesn't get left behind

Thanks guys. Will certainly look into the Slik Mini ball head. As the spotting scope is tiny I need a QR plate that doesn't overshadow the spotter and still allows me to use the protective cover that the spotter comes with. Looks like the Slik Mini QR plate (40mmx30mm) fits that bill nicely!
