And adjusting the diopter at the ocular lens can also make small changes in overall magnification.
Is there a reason you require accurate magnification?
No apart from if something says 6x then you would expect it to be 6x,
I would have thought the likes of Leupold and Swarovski would have had pretty comprehensive testing facilities but if you can see they're not accurate from looking at them in a room, well then that's pretty scientific too
