Thread: UK travel - brining back items?

Heading over to the UK in April. Is there a list of items that do or don't require import permits? Not after any firearms components or projectiles/brass etc.

Particularly interested in a Spartan bipod which are significantly cheaper over there, especially when the retailer is happy to take off the local VAT etc.

But don't want to get into trouble with Mr Plod on my return.

It's a camera bipod, right? Don't know the answer but have brought hand tools for building over before without problems.

The Arms Act defines a part unambiguously and is the only interpretation that matters:

If in doubt refer to the legislation. There are so many people that think you need an import permit for all and sundry which is incorrect.
You'll note that this list doesn't include torches, sling swivels, etc., etc. that are often repeated as erroneous examples of why the legislation is ridiculous.

I think I've posted this three or four times so far. So I just went back and quoted myself and changed to item to bipod. Bringing in a bipod is just as restricted as bringing in a block of Toblerone chocolate.

The beauty of over capacity Toblerone is you can restrict the capacity by breaking a piece off and eating it. Problem solved!
