LR duplex and CDS would be fricken Ideal
This is one, with the LR Duplex. It has stood up very well in spite of plenty of bashes. Its got a good ding on the front rim. They are not fantastic in poor light though, but that is simply a function of objective size and quality. You are not paying a fortune. For the same reason I would be a bit dubious about a CDS and clicking, albeit that mine adjusts ok.
The reticle is great, and I don't have much trouble hitting things out to 500 yds. The dots work well for my 243 load. It just takes a bit of fiddling to work it out. You can fire a shot using each dot at 100 yards, measure their height above the target and work the zeros back off a ballistic table. You need to know your velocity and ballistic details.
Try these guys just got a vx6 last week

Iv had a vx1 with the LR duplex and I thaught it was mint, and only added to the scope
my only concearn is the reliability and dialibility/repeatibility of the VX2 system if I get the CDS fitted
