I saw the figures a good few years back of the uk with ‘mandatory’ 3rd party insurance, where they get absolutely reamed as a result. 92% actually had insurance.
At the time, NZ was reportedly on 87% holding insurance, non-mandatory, much more reasonably priced.
Didn’t seem like enough difference to justify any changes to our laws in my eye.. there’s always going to be that sector that ignores the rules anyway, skips the rego and wof and just takes the chance. All a change would do is give them another rule to break.
